Through arts education, cultural festivals, mental health initiatives, and community workshops — we create access where there was none.
The work at Shivang Foundation comes alive through a few focused initiatives, each shaped by real needs and experiences.
At Shivang Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the transformative power of the arts.
Yet, for many children from economically disadvantaged and marginalised communities, access to Indian classical dance and music remains limited by financial constraints, lack of exposure, and the absence of accessible learning opportunities. As a result, countless children grow up unheard and unseen, with their creativity, confidence, and artistic potential left untapped.
Art For All (AFA) is Shivang Foundation's flagship initiative to bridge this gap.
Through partnerships with government and low-income schools, community centres, shelter homes, rehabilitation spaces, and underserved neighbourhoods, AFA brings the richness of Indian classical arts directly to children who may otherwise never encounter them. Rooted in the belief that the arts are not a privilege but a powerful tool for inclusion, wellbeing, and self-expression, the initiative creates meaningful pathways for children to discover their voice, connect with their cultural heritage, and realise their potential.
AFA is delivered through Shivang Foundation's I³ Framework, a three-stage approach that transforms access into opportunity and exposure into sustained engagement.
𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞: We introduce children to the beauty and diversity of Indian classical arts through 𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨, demonstrations, storytelling, and interactive experiences led by accomplished artists and practitioners. These first encounters awaken curiosity, expand horizons, and help children recognise that these traditions belong to them too.
𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞: Children are invited to participate actively through 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨-𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙨 and creative experiences that encourage movement, exploration, imagination, and self-expression. In these safe and joyful spaces, they build confidence, develop social connections, and discover their own interests, abilities, and potential.
𝐈𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭: Children who demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment are supported through mentorship, scholarships, fee assistance, and opportunities for 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 and performance. This ensures that artistic traditions are not only preserved but meaningfully passed on to a new generation of learners, practitioners, and cultural custodians.
Through a continuum of exposure, engagement, and mentorship, Art For All removes barriers to arts education and creates equitable pathways for children from underserved communities to learn, grow, and thrive through Indian classical arts.
At a time when communities are gradually losing touch with the cultural spaces that once nurtured identity, expression, and belonging, अjay was conceived as a response to reconnect artists and audiences through meaningful artistic experiences.
Derived from the Sanskrit word meaning unconquered and enduring, अjay celebrates the resilience of art and culture in changing times. Envisioned as a recurring six-edition annual series, it creates inclusive and accessible platforms where artists can perform with dignity and audiences can engage deeply with India's artistic traditions.

“अjay was born from my own journey as a performing artist. For years, I have known the joy of creating, rehearsing and stepping onto a stage. But I have also known the quieter side of an artist's life—the waiting, the uncertainty and the periods when opportunities to perform meaningfully were few. And when opportunities did come, fair and respectable remuneration was not always given. That experience stayed with me. अjay is my response to that reality. It is about creating one more space at the table. A space where an artist can perform without feeling that they are merely being given “exposure”. If one artist gets an opportunity they might otherwise not have received, if one young performer gains confidence, if one artist with a disability finds a stage where their artistry is seen before their limitation, or if one artist is able to take home a fair remuneration for their work—we would have created something worthwhile.”

More than a performance series, अjay is an investment in a sustainable cultural ecosystem—one where artists are valued, audiences are cultivated, and no one is excluded from the opportunity to participate, create, and be seen.
Following the successful first edition, Shivang Foundation now seeks partnerships and support to strengthen and expand this initiative through artist support, accessibility measures, community engagement, and long-term cultural ecosystem building.
At Shivang Foundation, we use movement and creative expression as accessible tools for emotional well-being, connection, and personal growth.
Designed for children, adolescents, women, older adults, and diverse community groups, these workshops create safe and inclusive spaces where participants can explore emotions, build confidence, foster self-awareness, and connect with themselves and others through movement, rhythm, play, and creativity.
Rather than focusing on performance or technique, the emphasis is on participation, expression, and the joy of moving freely. Guided by trained facilitators, participants experience how creative movement can support emotional balance, resilience, communication, and a sense of belonging.
We have successfully facilitated these workshops across a wide range of settings, including rehabilitation centres, special schools, orphanages, old age homes, care homes, community spaces, and other institutional environments, adapting each experience to the unique needs and abilities of the participants.
Venue: - Basistha Temple
The Basistha Dance Festival is envisioned as a soulful confluence of art, devotion, and heritage, set within the sacred परिसर of Basistha Temple, one of Guwahati's most revered spiritual sites. Rooted in the ancient Indian tradition where dance was an offering (seva) to the divine, this festival seeks to revive and re-establish the timeless practice of presenting classical dance in temple spaces—not merely as performance, but as sadhana.
To create a spiritual and immersive experience for both artists and audience, where dance transcends entertainment and becomes a medium of connection with the divine.
Basistha Temple holds immense historical and spiritual significance. Believed to be the ashram of sage Vasistha, it stands as a symbol of peace, meditation, and ancient wisdom. Surrounded by natural beauty and flowing streams, the temple creates an atmosphere that is inherently conducive to introspection and artistic expression.
Hosting a dance festival here is deeply relevant because:
The festival will feature:
For the audience, it will not merely be an event, but a deeply moving spiritual journey—where rhythm, expression, and devotion merge seamlessly.
The Basistha Dance Festival aspires to become a signature cultural offering of Guwahati, honouring tradition while inspiring future generations. It is a step towards preserving our sacred arts in their most authentic setting—where they truly belong.
Free training, cultural festivals, and community workshops — none of it happens without the backing of people who believe in it.
