Over time, certain changes have become visible.

Students becoming more confident

Greater willingness to participate and express

Stronger connection with cultural practices

Behind every number is a personal journey.

A student who once hesitated to speak now performs on stage. Another who struggled with confidence now participates actively. These changes may seem small, but they are meaningful and lasting.

A Journey of Healing Through Dance

At Shivang Foundation — we have witnessed how the arts can become a powerful source of emotional strength, discipline, and self-belief. One such journey was of Rashmi (name changed), a young student who had withdrawn from regular schooling due to serious mental health challenges and was undergoing medical treatment and care. During this difficult phase, dance remained the one space she consistently wished to return to. Bharatanatyam classes became a source of structure, expression, and emotional connection in her life. Over time, with continued guidance, family support, professional medical care, and her own dedication, remarkable positive changes could be observed in her confidence, focus, emotional stability, and overall personality development. The discipline of practice, the joy of performance, and the sense of achievement gradually helped her reconnect with herself and the world around her. A significant milestone in Rashmi’s journey was the successful completion of her Arangetram — a moment of courage, perseverance, and transformation. Beyond the stage, the confidence she developed through dance began reflecting in other areas of her life, including her studies, communication, and social interactions.Later it was seen that she even continued her regular academic pursuits. While dance is not a replacement for medical or psychological treatment, this experience reaffirmed our belief that the arts can play a deeply supportive role in emotional well-being, self-expression, and personal growth when nurtured in a compassionate environment. At Shivang Foundation, we continue to strive towards creating a safe and inclusive space where the arts may support healing, dignity, confidence, and inner transformation.

Rebuilding Self-belief through Dance

At Shivang Foundation — we believe that the arts can gently nurture confidence, resilience, and self-worth in young individuals facing emotional challenges. A meaningful journey of Anita (name changed), a young student, who had experienced bullying in school related to her body weight. The repeated emotional distress had deeply affected her self-esteem and self-image, and she also struggled with self-harm tendencies during that period of her life. When Anita joined dance classes, the initial focus was not performance, but creating a safe and encouraging space where she could participate without fear of judgement. Gradually, through regular practice, creative expression, group learning, and stage exposure, positive changes began to emerge in her confidence and emotional well-being. Over time, she became actively involved in performances and cultural presentations. Being on stage, learning choreography, and receiving appreciation for her dedication and expression helped her develop a healthier relationship with herself and her body. A visible transformation could be seen not only in her stage presence, but also in the way she carried herself with greater confidence and openness in everyday life. Anita’s journey reflected how the arts, alongside emotional support and care, can help young people rediscover self-worth, belonging and inner strength. At Shivang Foundation, we remain committed to offering an inclusive and compassionate environment where the arts may become a pathway towards healing, confidence, and personal growth.

Shivang Foundation is committed to using all support responsibly and meaningfully.

Updates, documentation, and communication remain an important part of the work.
